Acadience reading test info

The state of Utah has mandated that all students are required to take the Acadience tests (formerly known as DIBELS). 

This test is a set of procedures and measures for assessing the acquisition of early literacy skills from kindergarten through sixth grade. They are designed to be short fluency measures used to regularly monitor the development of early literacy and early reading skills.

The following skills are measured:

First sound fluency
Letter naming fluency
Phoneme segmentation fluency
Nonsense word fluency
DIBELS Oral Fluency
Daze (vocabulary)

Not all skills are measured in all grade levels.  

We give the Acadience test at the beginning, middle, and end of each year to make sure students are growing in their ability to read, and if they are lacking in an area, we identify which area we need to provide them with extra support so they will become successful readers.
